Friday’s Mixed bag

A couple things for today.

First, it’s Friday and it feels like the end of summer. My pool temp has dropped into the 60’s and it’s pretty chilly in the mornings. Seems like just last week I was pouring water on the dog to keep him from melting in the heat.

Immigration Surprise

The part that’s no surprise is the focus on immigration of this current administration. I live in a deep blue state so the press here have been up in arms.

After months of the same old stuff in the press, I was surprised to read this in the 1440

I was not aware during Obama’s tenure that deporting immigrants was a big thing. Clearly the press didn’t think so. Are you as surprised as me? Comment below.

I decided to look into it a bit.

Yup.

This is from a NY Times article.

ABC News 2016

ABC News is a typical mainstream media outlet. Here’s what they were saying in 2016.

Good Naked and Bad Naked

Seinfeld explored this topic in one episode. I think the picture says it all.

Apparently there is also good immigration deportation and bad immigration deportation.

I learned something today.

That’s Funny

On a completely different note, Mike and I discussed writer Dave Barry at lunch earlier this week. Dave is actually laugh out loud funny. I have embarrassed myself in public several times by giggling uncontrollably while reading Dave’s stuff.

Dave has written a few books, but his crowning achievement is his Year In Review which appears in the Miami Herald each year. Check out 2024 here.

Dave also has some thoughts on immigration.

I like that Dave takes jabs at both the left and the right in equal doses.

Flying Burritos

This is true – seriously. Read it at the Daily Upside.

As soon as I started reading, I was thinking of a Flying Burrito Brothers joke. The author beat me to it. Damn.

Wrap Up

That’s it.

3 things. There always has to be 3. 2 is too few and any more and you’ve lost us.

I’m heading out for golf shortly. Do something fun and enjoy the nice weather.

Bonus Content

It’s still only 3. This doesn’t count as 4 because it’s after wrap up.

I started checking out Dave Barry. He’s an amazing guy. We’ll save that for another time, but check out his Bill Maher interview.

At around 5 minutes he starts addressing some of the things that aren’t funny anymore.

Worth a watch.
